AMETHYST
"Asylum" Original and Kevin Energy Remix
"'Asylum",
is more than just a fine example of melodic hard Trance.
It borrows a bit of Techno, blags some psychedelic, injects
masses of Euro-melody, and still leaves room for a taste
of heavy metal! Inspired by a news item, DJ Amethyst tried
to comprehend the terrible isolation and hatred aimed at
genuine asylum seekers. Having no choice, they flee to the
'safety' of a foreign country, only to find that it hates
them just marginally less than the one that they were forced
to escape from. His music captures this imagined feeling,
by using three (Yes 3!), 909 kick drums, masses of percussion,
and a booming bass line. Upon this rhythmic foundation then
unfolds an arpeggio melody, which screams at the emotions,
as the Supernova takes control of the situation, until finally
the legendary JP-8000 joins in the melee. Add a mad guitar
solo, a music box (!), some tasteful vocoder, gorgeous filtered
strings, and you should get the idea
